Sis Debra Lighten (Maj) is currently the Flight Commander of Group Education and Training for the 11th Medical Group at Malcolm Grow Medical Center on Joint Base Andrews. In this current position she is responsible for overseeing compliance and the education and training of staff and affiliates in the National Capital Region (DC, Maryland, Virginia) assigned to the 11th Medical Group. Debra has her Master’s degree in Nursing Education and has been in the health care industry for 28 years, 18 years as a nurse/10 years as a medical assistant. She has worked in a variety of settings both civilian and military. Areas of experience include primary and specialty care (oncology and endocrine clinics), emergency services/pediatric intensive care/pediatric cardiac cath lab/sedation services. Debra has served in two branches of the US Military first as an Army Reservist (Signal Command), presently as a US Air Force Nurse Educator.

Debra was born into this organization (The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith) she is from the Augusta Georgia location. Parents are Willie and Dorothy Lighten. Debra has 10 siblings. She enjoys cooking, traveling, arts and crafts, hiking, trying new things.
